Leap in Time

This exhibition represents the focal point of a celebratory year for the Galerie im Taxispalais, which is commemorating its 50th anniversary in 2014. With Carola Dertnig, Heinz Gappmayr, Martin Gostner, Peter Kogler, Peter Sandbichler, Eva Schlegel, Martin Walde, Hans Weigand and Lois Weinberger it brings together acclaimed Tyrolean artists who have enjoyed international careers, and whose work has already been shown in solo exhibitions at the Galerie im Taxispalais. Starting out from the work war ist wird (was is will be, 1978) by Heinz Gappmayr, which can be seen on the central concrete wall in the gallery courtyard, we have selected the title Leap in Time for the exhibition. It creates a loose link between the artistic contributions and highlights the interpenetration of past, present and future time. As a consequence, it also refl ects – so to speak – the history of the gallery. The artists include participants in important major exhibitions such as the documenta or the Venice Biennale, and some teach in art academies; they will each show a complex of work, the majority produced specifi cally for our exhibition.
